AFTER completing a national tour where audiences packed the theatres, came along in school uniforms, created school reunions, sung their war cries with passion and laughed until the tears rolled, the Barbers knew they had to bring back Joe Barber 5 - School Cuts for one last season to the Baxter Theatre.
Word is out and tickets are selling fast for the final run until 15 January. Performances are from Tuesday to Saturday at 20:00.
The theme of Joe Barber 5 is School Reunions and according to director Heinrich Reisenhofer and the stars of the show, David Isaacs and Oscar Petersen, they have had the most fun producing School Cuts.
“We have shared our own school stories, laughed so much in rehearsal rooms that we could not stand.
The audience participation and feedback has been truly amazing.
“No matter where we have gone, the school spirit is the same and the show grew as we heard new stories, learnt new war-cries and made new friends.”
This Cape Town leg of the tour will be the last Joe Barber show for a while as the team focus their energy on getting the barber-shop characters their own television show.
These final performances will be a truly emotional, nostalgic and a celebratory season as they bring to a close 11 successful years of magic, laughter and loveable characters.
If you have not seen the production, this is your last opportunity to experience a true Cape Town phenomenon and an unmissable event for any Joe Barber fan.
Music is by Jitsvinger (Quintin Goliath). So, tie your hair in ponytails, put on your old school uniform, pack your sandwiches and head on down to the Baxter Theatre.
