New cup for Boland and Stormers clash

THE annual Boland Cavaliers vs DHL Stormers warm-up match, hosted by Boland Rugby, will take place at the DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium on 12 February , with Kurt Darren & Friends taking care of the pre-match entertainment. In the spirit of Valentine’s weekend, the Boland Cavaliers will also use this event to launch their new colours for the 2011 season, which will be used in combination with their traditional colours. Since this pre-season friendly has become such a popular fixture on the South African Rugby Union’s calendar in recent years, this year will be the first time that these two teams will compete for the Choice Cup. It will be the final warm-up match for both teams before the season officially kicks off. With Kurt Darren & Friends performing live in the build-up to this match, there will be no reason for the female suporters not to see this as a romantic occasion (although there will be no signs of romance once the whistle has been blown for kick-off at 18:00). The gates at DHL Newlands Rugby Stadium will open at 15:30, with Kurt Darren performing from 16:45, along with Sarah Theron, Wikus van der Merwe and Allistair Izobell. Tickets cost R40 pp (standing tickets R20) and can be bought at the gates at Newlands Stadium, at Computicket or at Boland Rugby’s offices. Suite and season tickets do not apply for this specific match. The match will be broadcast live on SuperSport at 18:00. DHL Stormers Super Rugby season tickets can be bought at Boland Rugby from 15 February (R1000 per ticket).
