Joint hack at New Orleans campsite

Joint hack at New Orleans campsite

2005-10-13

THE Friends of Paarl Mountain and the Friends of Tygerberg Hills will be undertaking a joint “hack” at the Orleans Park campsite in Paarl on Saturday, starting at 09:00.

There is a three hectare remnant patch of critically endangered Fynbos within the campsite and the Friends of Paarl Mountain have adopted this species-rich patch in order to take care of it. The first step is to hack the alien trees and weeds.

The Friends of Tygerberg Hills will bring their expert team of hackers and there will be plenty of work to do, including pulling out young alien plants by hand, tidying up felled trees and pulling out weeds.

Bring gloves, a pick, garden fork, tree popper and refreshments. You may come for any length of time during the morning. The campsite is in Meaker Street, next to Allandale Prison.

Contact Gael Campbell-Young at 872-8672 or 084-793-2876.
