Put on your hiking shoes for the full moon hike

THIS Saturday, 19 February, it is again time to take part in the Dirtopia full moon hike on the Delvera Farm (Klapmutskoppie) on the R44 between Klapmuts and Stellenbosch. Don’t forget your torch and something warm to wear after dark and wear hiking shoes – you are climbing a mountain, the organisers say. The marked Vineyard Trail is 9,75km in total and starts from the Trail Centre on Delvera farm. It will take you about one hour to the top from the Trail Centre so don’t be there later than 18:15, so that you make it in time for the sunset. You might just win a pair of Hi-Tec hiking shoes in a lucky draw! After the moonrise, you will probably be back at your car between 20:30 and 21:15, depending on your walking speed. Permits cost R50 per person (R20 for kids under 10) and includes the shuttle - you will also get a map. Picnics must be booked and paid for at least two days before the event date.
