Boschenmeer targeted again
2011-02-17
DESPITE tight security, security complexes are still being targeted by criminals. Especially Boschenmeer in Paarl South has been targeted by burglars during the past few months, with three burglaries taking place recently over one weekend alone. Plasma TV screens, computers, jewellery, cellphones and cash were removed from these homes by burglars. And this despite new high-tech security systems which have been installed at Boschenmeer, such as finger-print identification units. “Although the main entrances of Boschenmeer are closely guarded, burglars use the Berg River to gain access to the property,” says a spokesperson for the police. “There is also still an influx of builders still moving in and out of the premises. “But most of all, people in these complexes have a false sense of security and tend to be lax when it comes to their personal safety. “We are often called here after burglaries and find that houses are not properly locked and alarm systems, if installed, are not activated. “We encourage home owners to be on the look-out for any suspicious people or vehicles on the property and to report this.”
