A TODDLER of 22 months was run down by a motor vehicle and killed on Saturday in full view of his mother.

The incident occurred on the R45 in Simondium at 16:00, when Rozanne Ferrier and her son, Corbin, were walking from Pniel in the direction of Simondium.

According to Rozanne her baby was walking next to her when he suddenly ran across the road. He was struck by a black VW Polo. Corbin died on the scene before paramedics could arrive.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated. Eye-witnesses are asked to contact w/o Leon Jacobs at Groot Drakenstein police station, 021-874-8000.

* A man was killed on Saturday evening in Jan van Riebeeck Drive near Mbekweni, when he was allegedly knocked off his bicycle by a drunk driver.

Michael Dlikilili died at 22:30 on the scene near the Vlakkeland Road. A case of culpable homicide and drunken driving is being investigated by Mbekweni Police.
