IN response to the “Very disappointed Ex-Paarlite” that was published in last week’s Paarl Post regarding the Paarl Information Office: During January 2011, 1379 visitors were assisted in the office while another 879 were handled via telephone. This excludes the amount of emails handled every month.
The information office is a municipal office and therefore no promotional items are for sale as the office has to adhere to the Municipal Financial Act rules and regulations.
The office staff is careful not to set a precedent in recommending to people where to stay (in order to effectively prohibit unfair recommendations by municipal officials) and therefore urge visitors (where possible) to visit the office where they can personally look at the options for themselves.
Drakenstein Municipality does not have a dress code and staff members are urged to dress in accordance with a professional office environment where they work. Sometimes they must attend excursions.
From our side we apologise for any inconvenience caused, our intention is to deliver a high standard of service within the rules of our institution.
Girshwin Fouldien (manager local economic development Drakenstein).
