Five Stars for La Capra Chenin Blanc

HE wine La Capra recently gave Fairview yet another reason to celebrate. A comprehensive South African Chenin Blanc tasting by Decanter Magazine, one of the UK’s leading wine publications, has revealed one five-star rated wine - the La Capra Chenin Blanc 2010. The April 2011 edition of the magazine features a tasting of 155 local Chenin Blancs available in the British market, with price points ranging from £6 to over £20 – an overview of the variety’s performance as a signature South African white wine offering. The Chenin Blanc grape lends itself to interpretation and location, with the result that there are big, bold, barrel fermented examples and fresh, fruit-driven versions. Some of the grapes come from bush wine vineyards on Fairview. “Just because the wines offer value for money does not mean a compromise in quality,” commented Fairview owner, Charles Back.
