THIS ridiculous delay with the Frater Square development highlights the inefficiency of our Municipality that fails to deliver on promises, forgets to send out notices to adjoining neighbours on time and is inconsistent in its treatment of property owners and developers.
Prospective developers should be told well ahead of time that they must comply with all the (often unnecessary) red tape before their applications are even presented for approval.
The Municipality cannot turn around afterwards and say we promised you approval by September, but we forgot to send out notices to the neighbours for their approval a few months ago.
Some developers are chancers, but many are just being frustrated by inefficiency.
Building inspectors turn a blind eye in some areas, while others have to comply with strict town planning and ridiculous heritage constraints.
Darwin may have slept here, but some of us are still sleeping and we did not all have Cape Dutch homesteads.
