NEARLY 100 authors, poets, editors, illustrators and chairpersons will be making their way to Franschhoek for the 2011 Franschhoek Literary Festival (FLF) from 13 to 15 May.
London-based South African author and former winner of the Sunday Times Fiction Award, Justin Cartwright, will be rushing to Franschhoek after launching his new book Other People’s Money and helping to decide on the International Man Booker Prize shortlist with fellow judges in Australia.
Best selling author Colin Cotterill will also be presented to South African readers.
Vice-chancellor of the University of Free State, Jonathan Jansen will be debating some major issues of our time in events titled How To Fix Our Schools, Can Books Help To Heal A Nation and Leadership and Innovation.
Meaty debates in Writing Madiba can be expected that will feature authors who have worked on books about former president Nelson Mandela like Tim Couzens (Conversations with Myself) and Mike Nicol which will be chaired by Max du Preez.
Journalist Jacques Pauw and political analyst Justice Malala will also be present at the FLF. The full programme of the event will be available on www.flf.co.za towards the end of February.
