ANOTHER Somalian shop owner has been shot, this time in Franschhoek. The incident occurred on Saturday evening when four men entered the shop of Idow Hassan in Lea Street, Groendal. The suspects demanded cellphone air time and money. But as Hassan handed over what he had, he was shot in the shoulder. The suspects fled on foot with the air time vouchers and an undisclosed amount of money. Three of the four suspects had firearms. No arrests have yet been made. The Franschhoek police urge foreigners with shops to close their doors earlier to prevent robberies from taking place. Anyone with any information regarding this robbery can contact the investigating officer, W/O Regardt Prins on 021-876-8060. * Hope is fading for the safe return of the 5-year-old boy who went missing from an informal settlement near Franschhoek almost two weeks ago. Amila Mahlamvu was last seen playing with a two-year-old friend late on Friday 18 March, high against the slopes of Langrug. He has never been seen since. A huge search for the little boy followed, with more than 100 police members and volunteers joining force. A search helicopter was used to scan the vast slopes of the surrounding mountains, but no sign has been found of Amila. The little boy was last seen wearing blue jeans and a striped white T-shirt. Anyone with information on the young child’s whereabouts can contact Sgt Lood Muller on 021-876-8068 or 084-020-5051.
