Local riders set for SA action

THE youngsters of the local Yorkshire Cycling Academy will participate in the most prestigious track cycling event, the South African Track Cycling Championships, at the Bellville Velodrome from 27 April to 1 May. This event attracts the top track cyclists in the country. The Paarl riders that will be in action are Daniston Perrins (u.12), George Perrins (u.14), Angelo Diedericks, Franklin Stoffels, Graeme Ockhuis, Lee Arthur Green, Jean Claude Jantjies (u.16), Dino Daniels, Byron Martin (juniors), and Avery Arendse and Marius September (Elites). Daniston Perrins, Jean Claude Jantjies and Graeme Ockhuis who are the current Western Cape Track Champions in different events, will be up against fierce competition during the five days of the championships. Also in action will be South Africa’s own Junior World 1000m Time Trial champion, Bernard Esterhuizen, from KwaZulu-Natal. The crowds will also see the return of the Franschhoek cyclist and previous national champion, Nolan Hoffman, after a long lay-off. Racing will start every morning at 09:00. Spectators will definitely be treated to some of the best track cycling action in events like the sprint, 1500m, elimination race, points race, madison, individual pursuit, time trial and keirin (motor pace event).
