* Art. The New Works exhibition by Strijdom van der Merwe will open on Sunday at 11:00 at the Is Art Gallery at Le Quartier Francais in Franschhoek. The works can be seen until 7 June.
* Barry Hilton. Prepare yourself for fun and laughter with comedian Barry Hilton on Sunday 29 May at 16:00 at the Old Mill Theatre. The audience will enjoy a side-splitting show as Barry violates the laws of normality with his audacious wit. Barry’s repertoire surpasses that of many of his peers, having made it on stage for three decades as well as on TV. Exhibition. Contemporary artist Paul du Toit’s exhibition, Future Primeval, can be seen at The Yard at 38 Hugenote Street, Franschhoek, until 12 June. Du Toit, known for his linear, playful work, focuses on a personal interpretation of the human form. His creations have been exhibited, sold and awarded all over the world from Soho to Sotheby’s. He has teamed up with the du Plessis brothers, Riaan and Jean.
* Uitstalling. Gallery Six in Dwars-in-die-Weg, Paarl, bied tans ’n uitstalling van Richard Scott, Gavin Rain, Nannette Ranger en Roché van den Berg se kunswerke aan. Die galery se kurator, Corlia Basson, het ’n jarelange verbintenis met kuns.
* Folk and blues. On Sunday 22 May a special event will be hosted at 13:00 at Lievland Wine Estate on the R44 near Klapmuts. The day will feature an afternoon of laid-back folk and blues music featuring Gil Hockman, Joshua Grierson, Albert Frost and Harpdog Bob (Nagel), Bateleur and the Nomadic Orchestra. Bring your friends and picnic baskets. Wine will be on sale. In case of inclement weather the fest will be held in the barn. Cover charge is R60.
