THE Soccer World Cup promotion screen erected in front of the district council office in Paarl, a provincial heritage site, has overstayed its welcome by nearly a year.
It was erected with out reference to Heritage Western Cape or its approval. Assurances were given that it would be removed by the end of July 2010.
The eyesore still stands some ten months later, without a permit and contrary to the act that governs the department that erected it (Department of Cultural Affairs and Sport).
What must we do to have it removed?

Due to the number of complaints received, the board will be removed within the next week, according to a spokesperson for District Council. - Ed.
