THE u.18 soccer team of the Paarl Soccer Club drew their first game 2-2 in a Stellenbosch regional league match that was played against Franschhoek last weekend. On a bumpy Franschhoek pitch the players struggled to control the ball. By half time neither team was able to break the deadlock. In the second half Paarl took the lead when Suhail Seria set up Giovanni Johannes, cut inside the defender to shoot under the keeper and score. Franschhoek drew level when poor defending left a man free and he was able to easily beat the keeper. Ten minutes before the final whistle, Suhail Seria beat his man out wide and scored with a fine shot. Volmink, Paarl’s goalkeeper, made a couple of good saves to keep the scores level, but with a couple of minutes left Franschhoek scored with a long range shot to level the score.
