recently saw a letter in Paarl Post in which the writer compared the safety and beauty of Paarl with life in Johannesburg.
Well I have also relocated from Johannesburg and agree 100% with him that the locals must not take their safe lifestyle here for granted.
My concern is the increasing intersection traders in Paarl, with people illegally selling all sorts of things at the robots, the latest being from the Boulevard junction to go to the Paarl Mall.
Coming from Johannesburg and having experienced the ‘crime’ creation (not job creation) and smash and grab incidents, I warn motorists not to support these traders.
We do not understand that by buying from them, they will return and more will join them.
This is not job creation - these people are used by employers making quick money, mostly with cheap items imported from China.
Are the people who drop them off to sell, legal traders with trading licences and are they VAT registered? These are the questions we have to ask.
