THREE women were murdered during the last week in what are described as alcohol-related incidents of domestic violence, while a fourth one lost the sight in an eye. The first incident occurred on Saturday evening in Bell Street, Klapmuts, when a man and his wife became involved in an argument. The man had allegedly forbidden her to go out. According to Klapmuts station commander, Capt Faith de Klerk, it is alleged that Johanna van Wyk (45) first stabbed Abraham van Wyk (45) with a can opener, before she was stabbed multiple times in the chest with a knife. The same afternoon, the body of Elizabeth van Wyk was discovered in her bed at Glen Gaul farm, also in Klapmuts. Capt van Wyk said that eyewitnesses had reported that van Wyk and her friend, Aaron Limka, had been involved in a fight the previous evening. During this, Limka had allegedly punched van Wyk numerous times. “The suspect said that they went to sleep and in the morning he took van Wyk some food. He alleged that he later discovered her dead body in the bed.” Limka was arrested for van Wyk’s death. An autopsy will establish the cause of her death. On Monday afternoon, Mbekweni police were summoned to an open field next to the Vlakkeland Road where a body had been discovered. On their arrival they found the body of Theresa Wambi (29) who had been stabbed in the neck. Wambi resided in OR, Mbekweni. A police spokesperson said that a woman had seen Wambi and the man fighting. Shortly after this, the man, who was wearing brown pants, ran to Jan van Riebeeck Drive where he boarded a taxi.. Anyone who can help the police in identifying the suspect is asked to contact WO Nico Stevens at 082 777 5943 or 021 868 9926 with information. * A woman from a farm in Agter-Paarl, lost her eyesight on Friday, after being stabbed in the face with a broken bottle. Susan Hendriks of Waltell Farm was also involved in an argument with a man when the incident took place. Another woman then stepped in and allegedly stabbed Stevens in the face. She was rushed to Paarl Hospital, from where she was transferred to Tygerberg Hospital due to the severity of her injuries. Nicolene Smith (24) was arrested in connection with the incident.
