History made with first cross country challenge

MORE than 1000 athletes made history on 11 June on the premises of Brandvlei Correctional Services when they participated in the first ever Boland Inter-Districts Cross Country Challenge. The race also served as the fourth Boland cross country trial jointly organised by Boland Cross Country and Boland Schools’ Cross Country to assist Boland athletes in their preparation for the 2011 Boland championships that will take place on 13 August. All athletes ran for individual placing in the various age categories and their finishing positions also counted towards the various regions they were coming from. The central region (156) eventually won the fiercely contested challenge by one point followed by Boland West with 155 points.
