AFTER successful search operations the police’s special intervention unit last week arrested several people in Mbekweni in various operations in connection with drugs and the illegal possession of ammunition.
Khaya Mangena was arrested in Dube Village in Mbekweni for the illegal possession of 20 mandrax tablets on Wednesday last week, Const Lungi Mqakelana, communication official of the Mbekweni police said.
The tablets were hidden in the stove of the 30-year-old Mangena. The value of one tablet is about R50 to R100, she said.
The previous day, three male suspects were arrested. They were Mzwandile James (22), who was arrested in Phola Park in possession of Tik, Fezile Manzi (19) in possession of 9 mm rounds of ammunition, and Simphiwe Sitshixo (31) in possession of dagga.
On Youth Day they launched an operation in Jan Fiskaal Street in Amstelhof, Paarl East, where the police confiscated a large amount of Tik, Mandrax and dagga.
Bradley Ross (29) was arrested by Constable Hilton Prince.
