THE inaugural Knysna Seriously Strong 200 Mountain-bike Experience was lauded a great success recently, despite cold and wet weather foregoing the event. Full Dynamix team Timo Cooper (Wellington) and Jacques Roussow (Paarl), won the 200 km three-stage race which took place in the wilderness surrounding Knysna from 10-12 June. The women’s event was won by the Attix 5/GT-Mr Price team Hannele Steyn-Kotze and Heletje van Staden of Cape Town. The Masters crown belonged to the Cadence team of Shan Wilson (Cape Town) and Shaun Ellis (Johannesburg) while the laurels in the mixed category went to Merrel team Carel Bezuidenhout (Cape Town) and Heidi Koen (Port Elizabeth). Louise Wilson, of organisers Garden Route Events, said the event attracted mountain-bikers from across the country who thoroughly enjoyed old favourite routes combined with a range of tracks especially cleared for the race.
