Launch of the Drakenstein Gazette

TUESDAY sees the launch of a new newspaper serving the Paarl, Wellington and Mbekweni communities – the Drakenstein Gazette. The new newspaper will be published by the Boland Newspaper Group, a subsidiary of Media 24 that also publishes Paarl Post. The Drakenstein Gazette will be distributed free of charge on a Tuesday every week. The popular Home Ads, distributed on a Friday, is being incorporated into the Drakenstein Gazette, which will have a total of 24 000 copies distributed across its footprint of Paarl, Wellington and Mbekweni. The newspaper will serve the working class and will offer a compelling package of news and entertainment. With the primary aim of serving its communities, the Gazette will be strongly focused on news and issues affecting residents. It will aim to give residents both a mirror of their lives and a channel through which they can speak to each other. A fun package of sudoku, recipes and lifestyle tips will add to the mix. “It is extremely exciting to be launching a new newspaper,” comments Annelien Dean, editorial publisher. “We aim to give readers a publication through which they can explore their communities and tackle issues that need tackling, while not losing sight of the fun side of life.
