ON Wednesday, Paarl Soccer Club u.35 team took on Golden Gate at Bellville South and annihilated their opponents 9-1 with Lionel Matthee scoring 5, Kelvin Mc Kenzie and Cecil Thompson both scoring 2 each.
Their good fortune continued on Friday evening when they beat Spes Bona of Stellenbosch 4-0 with Johannes Wildschutt and Kelvin Mc Kenzie both scoring two apiece.
This match was marked by superb tackling and good ball distribution by Lindsey van den Berg who walked off with a well-deserved “Man of the Match” nomination.
The first team played Newcastle United in Mbekweni on Sunday.
Although the wind was extremely strong, Paarl took the initiative to play more attacking than their opponents and drew first blood in the 10th minute when Revaugn Mitchell scored a well-taken header from a corner kick.
However, the joy was not long lived when Newcastle United converted just one minute later.
The Paarl boys regained their lead in the 35th minute when Revaugn Mitchell scored his second goal of the match.
After re-shuffling their team in the second half, Paarl managed to score again when Keith Goodwin netted after receiving quality ball from Brendan Arendse to make it 3-1.
The Paarlites had to play with ten men for the rest of the match when Revaugn Mitchell was sent off by the referee for using abusive and insulting language.
Both teams continued attacking and Newcastle was awarded a penalty late in the match and converted to make the score 3-2 in the favour of Paarl.
