THE Laborie Alambic Brandy, a double-distilled potstill brandy, was recently awarded 99,5 points at an awards ceremony hosted by the South African Wine Index (SAWI).
The SAWI is a multi-vintage wine rating, deducted from the combined preferences of a diverse group of wine judges from an assortment of wine competitions, providing a condensed result point.
Other considerations include quality consistency while a nominal point is awarded for additional accolades. Further judging takes place according to wine maturation categories.
This award is further affirmation of its accolade of “Best Brandy in the World” which was awarded at the International Wine and Spirits Competition 2010.
The IWSC is generally regarded as an international benchmark test of technical excellence and stylistic quality of the world’s finest wines and spirits.
Says Kobus Gelderbloem, KWV Brandy Master Distiller, “After the success of the 2010 International Wine and Spirits Competition at which this brandy was named Best Brandy in the World, it is a challenge to stay in the top rankings. I am extremely happy with the result as expectations are high to maintain our standing within the competitions and market.”
