SAY goodbye to the grey moods of winter and celebrate the arrival of spring by heading off to Franschhoek over the weekend of 3 and 4 September for the annual Franschhoek Uncorked festival.
Music fans can expect to be kept entertained with a variety of live shows, ranging from talented jazz musicians and blues bands to French inspired music, with local musicians providing the ‘local is lekker’ flavour.
To allow for easy, hassle-free transport, pre-booked private shuttle services will be available to the public. Refer to the website for details. Early Bird tickets R80 per person until end of August. Thereafter, R100 per person, from www.webtickets.co.za or over the weekend from participating farms. Your ticket includes a tasting glass and entitles you to an access card.
An added feature to this year’s much awaited event is ‘King and Queen of the Cork’, where visitors to the festival stand the chance of winning an idyllic weekend away for two in Franschhoek.
To stand a chance of winning this getaway, all you need to do is take photographs of yourself and your companions at five participating farms during the course of the weekend and then email them to uncorked@franschhoek.org.za (for details visit www.franschhoek.org.za).
* Three lucky readers stand the chance of winning four tickets each to this year’s Franschhoek Uncorked. Send the name of the photo competition with your contact details to pippa@smartcommunications.co.za, with the subject heading PAARL POST GIVEAWAY before midnight, on Sunday 28 August. Only one entry.
