* Talent. Vrydag 26 Augustus om 19:00 vind die uitdunrondes vir die Schools got Talent vir hoërskole van Wellington in die saal van Bergrivier Sekondêr plaas. Hier word Wellington se hoërskool verteenwoordigers gekies wat dan later teen Paarl, Saron en Gouda gaan deelneem. Hoërskole wat deelneem, is Bergrivier Sekondêr, Wellington Sekondêr en Weltevrede Sekondêr. Toegang is R20 (R10 vir leerders en persionarisse, kinders onder 6 is gratis). * Workshop. A Life Coaching Work-shop will be held at De Poort on 27 August from 08:00 till 13:00. The topics covered are Goal Setting, A Vision & Mission for Life, Strategising and Action and more. The cost per person is R75 which includes breakfast, coffee/tea on arrival, muffins and a manual. Contact Derick on 079 067 6075 for bookings.
* Boeremusiek. Die Boland-tak van die Boeremusiekgilde hou ’n Lentedans Vrydag 2 September met Die Manne by Laerskool Noord-Eind. Toegang is R30 vir lede en R40 vir nie-lede. Almal word uitgenooi om die aand met ons te kom geniet. Vir navrae, kontak 083 346 7083.
* Debutantebal: New Orleans Sekondêre Skool bied aan ’n Debutantebal op 2 September in die Boberg-saal om 19:00, met die orkes The Naturals. Kaartjies kos R180 per persoon en sluit ’n driegangmaaltyd in. Kontak die skool by 021 862 0900 vir kaartjies.
* Sang. Die Adagio Sanggroep tree op 2 September om 19:00 op in die CP van der Merwesaal op Wellington. Verskeie jongmense van die omgewing sal ook optree. Die opbrengs sal aangewend word om skooluniforms vir plaaslike behoeftige leerders aan te koop. Kaartjies is R30 by Rodger Adams by 083 432 2954 of adamsro@cput.ac.za.
* Wine and wisdom evening. On 2 September, Paarl United Church is holding a fund-raising event in the form of a “Wine and Wisdom” evening at Paarl Girls’ High’s school hall. Tickets are R80 per person. A three course meal will be served and in between courses there will be a general knowledge quiz. People are welcome to make up tables of ten, or to phone the church office at 021 872 6341 for bookings. There will be a cash bar. At the end of the evening there is a prize for each of the participants at the winning table as well as the ten participants at the losing table.
* Spring Breakfast: The Methodist Church of Paarl presents a Spring Breakfast on Saturday 3 September from 08:00 to 11:00 at the church in Sanddrift Street. The farmhouse breakfast is available at R45 (children R25) payable at the door. There will also be stalls with fresh produce, preserves, plants, books and crafts and fun for the children.
