More shootings in Mbekweni

YET another person has been shot and killed in Mbekweni, this time at 18:30 on Friday night in Silver Town.

According to Police spokesperson Const Lungi Mqakelana, the suspect was arguing with a former girlfriend when Anele Molose (34) intervened.

Shots were fired and Molose was struck twice in the stomach. He was taken to Paarl Hospital where he died as a result of his injuries.

No arrests have been made.

This is the fourth person to be shot dead in Mbekweni within the past few weeks.

Mbekweni Station Commander, Colonel CP Geldenhuys, appealed to the public to report any illegal firearms to the police. He can be contacted on 021 868 9900.

* A man was killed in Mbekweni on Saturday evening after he was crushed by a vehicle driven by a friend.

The two men were allegedly drinking at a shebeen when Ntsika Sixholozi (25) took the keys of a company vehicle driven there by his friend, Gift Sokweba (29).

According to eye-witnesses, Sixholozi started the engine and revved the car loudly in a stationary position. The vehicle suddenly sped forward, crashing into Sokweba.

A case of culpable homicide is being investigated against Sixholozi, as well as a case of driving under the influence of alcohol and using a vehicle without the owner’s permission.
