THE new Arabesque Gallery has opened on the property of Soete Huys, a Cape Dutch guesthouse at 1 Stadsig, Wellington.
The gallery displays unique Middle Eastern jewellery, pottery, furniture, rugs, glassware, musical instruments, wall hangings and lighting, all are handmade items sourced in Egypt, Yemen and other Arab countries.
The owners are Paul and Jane Dee who until August were living in Cairo making TV programs. Jane, originally a costume maker in London, has had her creations featured in a number of movies including “Shakespeare in Love”, “1492” and “Little Women”.
The entrance is at the four-way stop on the corner of Church and Barlinka Street.
