A NEW development of 52 single residential units is planned on agricultural land located between Main Street and the Paarl Boys’ High sportsgrounds.

The property of five hectares belongs to David Bourbon-Leftley and is accessed via Elizabeth Street.

He plans to develop 52 units on plots varying from 300 to 1000 square metres, which will be known as Vredenburg Village.

A business site of 0,41 hectares is planned adjoining Main Street.

* The application for development of 18 group housing units on the site of the old Paarl Prison (Hof Street prison) has also been submitted to the Municipality.

Townhouses will be built on erven varying from 304 to 386 square metres.

The prison building will be redeveloped for business purposes, as well as the part of the site fronting on Berg River Boulevard.

Objections, if any, must reach the municipal manager by 28 November.

* The subdivision of a section of the farm Klein Parys is planned by the owner, Kosie Moller.

Application has been made for the amendment of the Paarl/Wellington urban structure plan and the change of land use for the southeastern portion of the farm (4,2 hectares of the 56 hectares) to be developed into 38 residential erven.

The erven will have an average size of 700 square metres (8,9 units per hectare).

Motivated objections, if any, must reach the municipal manager by 21 November.

* The property at the corner of Newman and Van der Stel Street, Paarl East, is to be subdivided into 59 erven and about 14 group housing erven for development. Objections, if any, must reach the municipal manager by 5 December.

* Another residential development is planned in Wellington adjoining
SA Dried Fruit north of Rossiter Street.

Part of the land (0,82 hectares) is zoned for industrial purposes while 1,16 hectares is zoned for agricultural puproses.

A total of 62 group housing units are planned on the site of two hectares around the old homestead, retaining some vineyards.
