Ringing in the new at Paarl Print Labels
2005-11-10
PAARL PRINT LABELS, the specialist wine label printers within Paarl Media Group, launched its modern new 800m˛ label printing facility last week, situated adjacent to its parent company Paarl Print in Daljosaphat, Paarl.
According to general manager Rian Moore, this is a landmark event for this award-winning label printer.
“Although we’ve already scooped two coveted awards this year, Paarl Print Labels is in its infancy as a focused label printer. However, we have many valuable years of expertise in our midst, gained while we were a unit within Paarl Print.
“Our modern, new premises give us the freedom of being focused label printers, while the business remains a division of Paarl Print, which is 26% owned by broad-based Black Economic Empowerment partners.
“As soon as the major building work on our new factory was completed at around mid-year, we installed a brand new nine colour MPS (Multi-Print Systems) EC roll-to-roll flexo press, manufactured in the Netherlands.
“Supplementing the capacity of our existing Nilpeter label presses, the MPS also offers silk screening which is ideal for high specification wine labels.
“We have also invested in a new Rotoflex rewinder with an added camera system. This state of the art rewinding equipment is the second of its kind in South Africa.
“While rewinding the printed labels onto a roll, the camera continuously takes photographs of the repeat. We believe this really adds value for clients, as it limits incomplete rolls of labels and all the labels on the roll are guaranteed accurate.
“At Paarl Print Labels, we are committed to provide leading functionality and meet our clients’ requirements, while delivering superior quality and on time service. “There is a lot of room for growth in the label market and we will do our best to derive maximum value from our state of the art technology and the experience that resides in our dedicated and skilled team,” concludes Rian.
Paarl Print Labels scooped the Best Range Award for the printing of KWV’s Golden Kaan range in the third annual Raflatac Wine Labels of Excellence awards during July 2005 and during October 2005, received a silver award in the 2005 Gold Pack Awards for labelling, also for the printing of KWV’s Golden Kaan range.
The Gold Pack Awards winners brochure commented: “The judges were particularly impressed with the execution of the innovative front label that consists of three elements. They commented on the perfect foiling that achieves a print-on-glass effect.”
