I WOULD like to respond to the article on the appointment of the Municipal Manager of 10 November.
It is with great concern that a process that was supposed to be confidential was “leaked” to the Paarl Post with a lot of inaccuracies, conjecture and biased comments.
The ANC component of Council has no knowledge of perceived fights that your source alleges. As far as we are concerned the ANC has only one provincial leadership.
Your comment that Drakenstein will be radicalised if an African Municipal Manager is appointed, smacks of racism.
It is unfortunate that your “informed” source did not reveal the actual reason for repeating the process: that there was more than reasonable suspicion that questions intended to be posed to candidates were leaked in an effort to advantage some of the candidates.
I am confident that the Drakenstein Council will appoint a Municipal Manager that will serve the interest of its inhabitants both in terms of service delivery and transformation.
