Nederburg auction over 2 days
2005-11-17
THE 32nd Nederburg Auction taking place on April 7 and 8 next year will be a celebration of rare South African finds - with the new wines and cultivars on offer showcasing local winemaking talent.
According to the newly appointed auction manager, Christine Joubert, the auction, rated as one of the top five wine auctions of the world, reverts to a two-day event.
This is to cater for both ends of the wine spectrum,” she said. “The focus on Friday is businesslike, providing a wine tasting and ideal networking opportunities for buyers and participants.
“On Saturday the pace is more leisurely and the customary social highlights will again be included.
“The theme - Rare South African Finds - is also reflected in the programme which features new talent on the fashion, lifestyle, music and culinary front.”
The wines on auction are the cream of those selected by three panels of tasters, consisting of winemakers, viticulturists, Cape winemasters, wine judges and selectors.
While the Nederburg Auction on the Saturday is not open to the public, they will indeed be able to indulge their senses in the wine, food and fashion experience at Nederburg in Paarl on Sunday, 9 April when the Nederburg, Wine and Fashion Show of Rare South African Finds takes place.
Tickets will be sold in aid of the Organ Donor Foundation, Mothers To Mothers and the Hospice.
