Honour for Drakenstein citizens
2005-11-24
THE Mayor of Drakenstein, Herman Bailey, has invited the public to nominate individuals as well as organisations for community awards that will be presented to the winners early next year.
Awards will be made in ten categories and in each a person or organisation can be nominated for their contribution during 2005.
There is also provision in every category for lifelong awards. The categories are education, culture, sport, environment, health, tourism, social welfare, youth, business and media.
The Mayor said there are a lot of people and individuals who are serving the community.
“We want to honour these individuals and organisations for the unselfish work they do in the interest of others.”
He said the possibility to make this an annual event, will be looked into at a later stage.
The public can send nominations in with the person/organisation’s full name, address, telephone number, a picture (where possible) and a short motivation of no more than 150 words.
Detail of the nominator must also be provided.
Nominations close on 20 January and the list of awards will be announced within two weeks after this date.
Nominations can be sent to Awards, c/o Heini Odendal, PO Box 1, Paarl 7620.
You can also e-mail it to HeinO@drakenstein.gov.za or put it in the special containers at the Paarl Post, Radio KC or the municipal offices in Paarl, Mbekweni, Wellington, Saron and Gouda.
