New developments in Franschhoek
2005-11-24
THE first houses in a new residential development in Franschhoek, L’Avenue de Franschhoek, are to be erected soon at the foot of the Franschhoek pass.
A total of 18 new erven on eight hectares are being developed by Aslo Properties at a cost of R50 million in the vicinity of the avenue of blue gum trees east of the Huguenot Museum.
Some of the erven are as big as 5400 square metres and incorporate vineyards and olive trees. Only a few erven remain.
Architectural guidelines must be adhered to and purchasers have four years within which construction must start. A wine is to be made from the vineyards on the estate.
* Another new development is planned between Franschhoek South and Groendal. The owner of the farm La Terra de Luc has applied for permission to subdivide the farm into 78 single residential erven to create a new gated estate. Comments, if any, should reach Stellenbosch Municipality by 25 November.
