Second wind for Franschhoek race
2005-11-24
THE Môreson Franschhoek Half-Marathon will hope to pull itself up by its running shoelaces when it again takes place this coming Sunday.
The Franschhoek Half-marathon is being ‘resurrected’ after an absence of two years, and runners can look forward to running an enjoyable yet challenging route with vineyards and mountains as a breathtaking backdrop.
Participants will gather at the start/finish venue adjacent to the Huguenot Monument in Franschhoek before the start at 07:00.
The course makes a 1km loop near the monument, before the runners go out in a clockwise direction on the Robertsvlei road. They will pass through the La Motte forestry village, before visting Môreson Farm and rejoining the R45 towards Franschhoek.
Registration takes place on Saturday from 17:00 to 19:00, and the morning of the race from 05:00 to 06:45.
With the backing and support of the Franschhoek Valley Tourism, the local Lions Club and the title sponsor, Môreson Wines, this promises to be a memorable event.
