Local restaurants shine
2005-12-01
TWO local restaurants shine in the Top Ten of the national Eat Out Johnnie Walker restaurant awards.
They are Bosman’s at the Grande Roche Hotel in Paarl, and Reuben’s in Franschhoek.
Among the top 100 in Wine magazine’s annual guide to the best eating experiences in the country, Reuben’s features once again. Also among the twenty singled out for special mention for special occasions are Le Quartier Français.
For everyday eating, special mention was made of Joostenberg in Muldersvlei.
Other local restaurants in the Top 100 are Bosman’s at The Grande Roche Hotel and Pontac Manor in Paarl, Grande Provence, Haute Cabrière and Topsi & Co in Franschhoek and Tokara in Helshoogte. The Top 100 restaurants are judged on good food and good service, but not necessarily on a great winelist. Atmosphere takes priority over service. It can be posh or casual - it’s really all about the food.
