Intercultural communication
2005-12-21
WITHIN the South African corporate context we often have to communicate with different culture groups.
To help with this, an informal half-day seminar will be presented by the Stellenbosch University Language Centre on Thursday 9 February.
It will serve as an introduction to the different pitfalls of communication across cultures.
The various dimensions of culture in South Africa, such as collectivism and individualism, as well as age and sex, will be explained in a practical way.
The influence of these cultural aspects on the design of brochures, memos and reports will also be discussed.
The cost is R375, and only 20 participants can be accommodated. The half-day seminar will be presented from 14:00 until 17:00 at the Stellenbosch University Language Centre, 24 Crozier Street, Stellenbosch.
The closing date for registrations is 2 February. Registration forms can be sent by fax or e-mail to Maretha Joyce at e-mail mjoyce@sun.ac.za or fax 808-3676. Complete details and registration forms are available on the web site (www.sun.ac.za/taalsentrum/EVD). Conditions apply.
