Oude Libertas: Die Tafel, ’n komedie, is môre en Saterdag in dié amfiteater op Stellenbosch. Ses van SA se bekendste toneelskrywers, Saartjie Botha, Jeanne Goosen, Henrietta Gryffenberg, Leon Kruger, Malan Steyn en Chris Vorster, skryf elkeen ’n skets wat in hierdie liefdeskomedie die wel en wee van ’n paartjie uitlig.

Boekpraatjies: Michiel Heyns se derde roman “The typewriter’s tale” het teen die einde van verlede jaar verskyn. Hy is Saterdag om 11:00 in Protea Boekwinkel (Stellenbosch) om oor dié nuwe werk van hom te gesels. Saterdag 28 Januarie: Een van die verrassings is die merkwaardige boek “Kroes” deur Pat Stamatélos. Sy sal om 11:00 in Protea Boekwinkel (Stellenbosch) wees om met die uitgewer, Nelleke de Jager, oor dié werk van haar te gesels. Danie Niehaus: Die gewilde sanger is môreaand by die Bistro, Helderberg se teaterrestaurant met sy nuutste vertoning ‘Grys Gebiede’. Niehaus se vertoning by Die Bistro, Strand Pavilion, Kusweg, Strand, sal ’n keur van treffers en staaltjies deur die jare bevat, en begin om 20:30, met ’n à la carte-spyskaart beskikbaar vanaf 18:30. Kaartjies is R80 vertoning alleenlik, by 854-4026.

Opie Bellas: Hierdie begaafde jazz sanger is hier al die pad van San Francisco en Sondag om 18:00 tree hy by Oude Libertas op Stellenbosch op.

Comedy: The classic war time farce “See How They Run” returns to the stage one more time with Rex Garner and nine other actors. The Philip King comedy is presented by Pieter Toerien at Theatre on the Bay from 21 January.

Jazz: “Jazz on Friday” will take place every Friday evening until 31 March at the La Grange Gallery & Fromagerie Restaurant,13 Danél Hugo Street in Franschhoek. The La Fromagerie Jazz Band will play from 17:30 to 20:30 and the cost is R100 per couple which includes a bottle of wine. Cheese platters will be available for R60/platter. Spier: Cape Town City Ballet presents Queen At The Ballet, choreographed by Sean Bovim and conducted by Michael Hankinson, from 24-28 and 31 January and 1 February. The popular Luciano Zuppa and Duncan Royce perform Freddy Mercury’s vocals and the show also stars Zanne Stapelberg and Aviva Pelham.Gavin Rajah and Malcolm Kluk, amongst others add to the set design with a visually striking array of costumes.

Merry Widow: The vibrant operetta “The Merry Widow” opens at Artscape in Cape Town on Thursday January 25. This promises to be a glittering evening of sensuous waltzes and exquisite Parisan couture portraying the decadent nightlife of the Moulin Rouge and its infamous can-can girls. Valiant Swart: The Bistro at Strand Pavilion, Beach Road, Strand presents the original Mystic Boer, Valiant Swart, for one night only on Friday 27 January. Jazz: Rus Nerwich has returned from Buenos Aires to once again treat jazz enthusiasts to true listening pleasure. This Trio breaks tradition, following a unique and challenging format mixing double base, saxophone and drums. It makes for interesting musical listening.
