THE first Cape Country Picnic Festival on Bien Donné Farm in Simondium is being held this weekend from tomorrow until Sunday.

The festival offers a relaxed outing for family and friends. There is a kiddies' den for the toddlers, quad bikes, wall climbing and pony rides for the kids, helicopter flips for the high flyers, great live and background music.

Bring your own cutlery and picnic blanket, then purchase all your picnic ingredients from the food stalls. Enjoy the deli-like products from stall to stall or simply buy a ready-packed picnic. Taste and buy wines of the surrounding winelands.

Food stalls include De Volkskombuis Restaurant, Red Pepper Deli, Spier Deli, Boschendal, Checkers and their Cheese of the World and the Pesto Princess.

Wineries include producers Ashanti Wine Estate, Eikendal Vineyards, Vrede en Lust, Delheim Wines, Simonsig Family Vintners, Swartland Cellars and Rietvallei.

No food or alcohol will be admitted at the gate.

Entrance is R45 per person, kids 12 and under enter at no cost.

Buy tickets from Computicket, Shoprite and Checkers to avoid queuing at the festival gates. Visitors with tickets in hand will make use of a separate entrance to ensure quick access to the festival grounds.

The gates open at 11:00 and close at 20:00
