Chamber music at Boschendal

A SERIES of classical chamber music concerts with internationally recognised European artists will be held in aid of charity in the Winelands from 22 February to 3 March.
Concerts will be held in the Endler Hall (22 and 23 February) or with snacks and wine at the historical wine estates of Vergelegen (24, 25 and 26 February) and Boschendal (1, 2 and 3 March).
Each concert has a unique character portrayed by a carefully selected programme, including works of Mozart and his pupils in honour of Mozart’s 250th birth year.
The works of female composers, such as Fanny Hensel-Mendelssohn, Clara Schumann and Alma Mahler will be performed and, true to Cape Classic’s aim to promote cultural exchange between South Africa and Europe, the works of contemporary South African composers, Hans Huyssen and Michael Blake, will also be showcased.
* The “Con Affetto” concert on 1 March at 19:00 at Boschendal Wine Estate wil feature music by Franz Anton Hoffmeister, Franz Schubert, and Carl Maria von Weber. The artists are Rosemarie Kurz (flute), Nico van der Meel (tenor), David Lauri (violoncello), Antonio Pellegrini (violin), Ulrike Fukde (sopran), Cornelia Anuschek (viola), Daniele and Davide Trivella (piano).
* On 2 March at 19:00 at Boschendal Wine Estate the concert “Con Licenza” will be a song recital of music by Robert Schumann, Gerrit Jan van Eijken, Johannes Bernardus van Bree, Johannes Verhulst, Daniel de Lange, Samuel de Lange and Rudolf Mengelberg featuring Nico van der Meel (tenor) and Davide Trivella (piano).
* On 3 March at 19:00 at Boschendal Wine Estate a vocal and chamber music concert “Da Capo” will feature music by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart/Johann Nepomuk Hummel, Franz Schubert, Franz Liszt, Robert and Schumann.
The artists are Ulrike Fulde (soprano), Karin Scharler (piano), David Lauri (violoncello), Nico van der Meel (tenor), Antonio Pellegrini (violin), Cornelia Anuschek (viola), Rosemarie Kurz (flute), Daniele and Davide Trivella (piano).
All concerts start with a pre-concert talk by Klaus Hinrich Stahmer.
On 27 and 28 February workshops for disadvantaged children in the Bridge House School Valley Music Project will be held by the artists.

Cape Classic is a German founded organisation which presents an annual classical music concert series in the winelands with the proceeds donated to charity organisations in the vicinities.
