A FEAST of family fun awaits participants and spectators of the fifth annual Cape Argus Pick ’n Pay Mountain Bike Challenge, which will take place at Boschendal Wine Estate on Sunday 5 March.

According to Meurant Botha of Dirtopia, organisers of the Cape Argus Pick ’n Pay Mountain Bike Challenge, this day isn’t only dedicated to the mountain-bikers who will test their skill and endurance, it also promises to be a day of fun for the entire family.

“Non-riders can enjoy a relaxing morning in the sun or shade on Boschendal’s sprawling lawns, enjoy the glorious scenery and indulge in the delicious fare for sale on the day of the race,” says Botha.

“Stunt-riders will also provide heart-stopping action in a bike trials demonstration.”

The Mountain-Bike Challenge precedes the Cape Argus Pick ’n Pay Cycle Tour and is the biggest ride of its kind in the Western Cape - likened to mountain-bike events like Knysna and Sabie.

Riders who have not yet entered the race can pre-enter until Friday 24 February and must choose from one of three routes - a 13km fun ride, 26km and 55km.

The 13km fun ride is aimed at families, children and beginners with the 26km route for those with a sense of adventure.

The 55km marathon will test the endurance of fit and skilled riders
who want to put themselves to the test.

The number of entrants are limited this year, which means participants are advised to enter soon to avoid disappointment.

Riders can either enter online by visiting www.mtbchallenge.co.za or visit the Dirtopia Trail Centre, situated on the Delvera Farm on the R44 between Klapmuts and Stellenbosch.
