Silver Ring Thing launched
2006-03-02
THE Silver Ring Thing, a programme which connects community youth groups and school-based abstinence programmes and appeals to a typical 21st-century teenager, will launch at Gymnasium High on Thursday 9 March.
Silver Ring Thing was de-veloped in the USA in 1995 by Denny Pattyn and his team, in response to the destructive ef-fects of America’s sex-obsessed culture on the youth.
The Thing in Silver Ring Thing is the high-tech presentation that makes this programme uniquely attractive.
By featuring awesome lighting and video systems, hilarious skits, concert sound systems, high-energy music, TVs, computers and a faith-based abstinence message, young people become interested in the message being offered to them about their sex lives.
The silver Ring is worn as an outward symbol of an inward decision made by the attendees and is a reminder of the abstinence pledge they made.
Entry to the Paarl event is free of charge, but teenagers will have to pay R100 for the Ring and a SRT Bible.
Registration will start at 18:00 in the Carl Redelinghuys Centre.
The event is especially for teenagers from grade 7 to grade 12. Questions? Phone 088-128-1345, e-mail srt@wtb.co.za.
