Care centre nears completion

Care centre nears completion

2006-03-02

THE building of Paarl Rotary Club’s Care Centre for abused women, children and rape victims, has now reached roof height. It is to be completed by June.

It will then be able to accommodate approximately 40 victims once the police have finalised their inter-
views.

The Centre will provide a place of safety and will include counselling rooms, accommodation and catering facilities for both overnight as well as longer term residents and workrooms.

A thrift shop is also included to help sustain the project once it is operational.

It is Paarl Rotary’s aim to raise the estimated R2,5 million needed to construct the centre. Paarl Rotarians have not been idle and have already raised a sizeable amount towards this goal.

In their continuing efforts they are currently holding a raffle in which the first prize is a 2.0 liter A3 Audi fsi valued at R240 000.

Rotary appeals to the public to support this project by participating in the raffle. Tickets are available at Gys Smit Pharmacy (Pick ’n Pay Centre), Datatype (Main Street), Marc’s Restaurant (Main Street) and Paarl Vetshop (Paarl Mall). Sales close on 15 March, followed by the draw on 31 March.

In recognition of significant donations of R1000 or more, a brass plaque with the donor’s name will be placed on a wall of honour, whilst donations of R100 000 or more will have a wing named in their honour.
