Silver Ring Thing launching in Paarl
2006-03-09
THE Silver Ring Thing, a programme which connects community youth groups and school-based abstinence programmes and appeals to a typical 21st-century teenager, will launch at Gymnasium High tonight.
Silver Ring Thing was developed in the USA in 1995 by Denny Pattyn and his team, in response to the destructive effects of America’s sex-obsessed culture on the youth.
The Thing in Silver Ring Thing is the high-tech presentation that makes this programme uniquely attractive.
By featuring awesome lighting and video systems, hilarious skits, concert sound systems, high-energy music, TVs, computers and a faith-based abstinence message, young people become interested in the message being offered to them about their sex lives.
The Silver Ring is worn as an outward symbol of an inward decision made by the attendees and is a reminder of the abstinence pledge they made.
Entry to the Paarl event is free of charge. Registration will start at 18:00 in the Carl Redelinghuys Centre.
The event is for teenagers from grade 7 to grade 12. Questions? Phone Daleen at 073-183-5041, e-mail srt@wtb.co.za or visit www.silverringthing.co.za.
There will be refresments for sale.
