Rotary's Care Centre fund receives boost
2006-03-09
LOCAL businessman and Paarl Rotarian, Neil Lyners, has made a donation of R50 000 towards the building fund of Rotary Club of Paarl’s Care Centre for abused women and children, currently being constructed next to the Salvation Army chapel in Paarl.
On handing over his cheque, Neil Lyners remarked that the building of the centre was well overdue and he was confident that the unfortunate victims of abuse and rape will now have a place of refuge, free of fear, where they would receive the necessary care, counselling and rehabilitation.
Thereafter they will return to society, better able to face life again after their terrible experiences.
Through his family’s donation, he felt that they could help make a difference to the lives of those not as fortunate as themselves.
Members of the public are encouraged to support this project either by participating in Rotary’s raffle (first prize an Audi A3), or make donations to Rotary Club of Paarl, at Nedbank, Account number 1019248793, branch number 101910.
