Workshop on spatial development
2005-04-07
A WORKSHOP to assist in the drafting of the Provincial Spatial Development Framework (PSDF) will be held from 08:00 to 16:00 on Tuesday 19 April in the indoor sports centre in Van Huyssteen Avenue, Worcester.
It is one of a number of workshops organised by an urban planning and design company, CNdV Africa, appointed by the Department of Environmental Affairs and Development Planning (EADP) to assist in the drafting of a Provincial Spatial Development Framework (PSDF) for the Western Cape Province.
The intention is that the PSDF should be a tool which facilitates: * The residential integration of communities; * Access to high exposure economic space, particularly for marginalised business people, by means of transport routes, service provision and the correct location and densification of settlements; * The minimisation of the destruction of agricultural land, biodiversity and scenically sensitive areas through development control; and * The maintenance and enhancement of the Western Cape’s unique environment as a crucial part of its socio-economic base. The PSDF is being aligned with the National Spatial Development Perspective (NSDP), and will give strategic guidance to the public and private sectors on where investment and development spending should be prioritised and where development should be avoided. Written submissions must be received by 29 April.
