Health workers injured
2006-03-30
FOUR Paarl health workers were seriously injured in a collision with a truck in Simondium last week.
The women were returning from a health workers’ meeting in Simondium and were travelling on the road to Paarl at 21:00 when they ploughed into a truck.
Charlene Cupido, Ella Hendricks, Francina de Koker and Ann Mentoor were rushed to Paarl Medi-Clinic, where three of them were admitted to the Intensive Care Unit.
All have been released from hospital, except for Charlene, who remains in a serious, but stable condition.
Charlene is the Area Project Assistant of the Cape Winelands District Municipality for the Paarl area, and the other women are lay health workers.
