Irish music at Barnyard Theatre
2006-03-30
THE Barnyard Theatre at Bridge House presents ‘Under an Irish Moon’ on Friday 31 March.
It is a story told with jokes in a pub atmosphere by Cedric Vandenschrik, but it also explores the soulfulness and sometimes painful background that has created songs like Sunday Bloody Sunday, Zombie and I don’t like Mondays.
Ireland’s music tells a story of struggle and human triumph over hardship, but also of jubilation and joy even in the face of gloom.
This is the story we find in this show. Going from pop songs (Brown Eyed Girl by Van Morisson) to soft acoustic sounds (Sunday Bloody Sunday by U2 with guitar and voice), to high energy rock classics like the Boys are back in town by Thin Lizzy.
The band line up will include drums, electric/acoustic guitar, bass, keyboards and fiddle.
Featured are also some of the more traditional songs like Danny Boy, Cockles and Mussels, The River is wide.
It is a show where one discovers the universality of music and in this particular case, it all comes from Ireland.
Cheese boards from Dalewood on sale with Moreson wines on promotion.
For bookings, contact Debbie on 874-1505. Doors open at 18:30, show starts at 20:00.
