Fit Mark does it again

Fit Mark does it again

LOCAL preacher Mark Cerfonteyn has done it again, this time winning the EAS All Africa Body for Life Challenge.

“I can’t believe that I have won this competition and received the title of All African EAS Grand Master Champion at my age. I think the main advantage of this lifestyle is that it is not a diet”, Mark says.

As the winner of the local leg in his age category earlier this year, Mark went on to defend his title at the All-Africa Championship against 2 800 entrants from all around the continent as well.

Mark has enjoyed dramatic weight loss even after winning the local leg earlier this year, and he is still going strong.

Contestants are given 84 days to build muscle and burn fat. During this time, his waist measurement has gone down from a size 40 to a 34 and his body fat had dropped from 30.1 to 13.7.

Mark had a wake-up call last year concerning his health. He was diagnosed with high cholesterol and was told that if he did not do something drastic, he was on a collision course with a heart attack.

He then entered the Body-for-Life 12 week challenge based purely on the principles in the best-selling book Body-for-Life by Bill Phillips. He altered his diet and started going to the gym regularly.

The Body-for-Life challenge, sponsored by EAS and held annually in 69 countries around the world, has become internationally renowned as the world’s most prestigious fitness championship.

Mark received his title at a gala event in Johannesburg where local and international sports stars came together to celebrate ‘The night of Champions’.

“I hope that my winning will inspire others to make some changes no matter what their age. I changed my mind, changed my body (this is the slogan of EAS - the sponsors of this worldwide event).”
