Woman disappears with equipment

Woman disappears with equipment

2006-04-20

A WOMAN is being sought by Paarl police in connection with the theft of a generator and compressor that were stolen from two equipment hire contractors.

On 25 February a well-dressed woman entered Coastal Tool Hire in Jan van Riebeeck Drive and rented a compressor.

Her identity document was copied, her personal details taken and she left a signed cheque with the shop assistant.

She told him that when she returned the compressor, they should fill in the amount which is owed to them, on the cheque.

When she did not return after the three days for which she had rented the equipment, the police were notified.

Two weeks later a similar incident occurred at Sales Hire in Jan van Riebeeck Drive.

A woman rented a generator and the same steps were followed as at Coastal Tool Hire, but a photograph was taken of her to attach to her account details.

The generator was never returned, however.

It has now been established that the same woman was involved in both incidents, and the police would like to question Ayanda Ndolela (29) who may shed light on the disappearance of the equipment.

Anyone who knows her whereabouts can contact Insp Granville Maarman at 807-4038.
