Mall hits the roof

DON’T forget to look up next time you visit Paarl Mall. Those unusual, beautifully crafted ceilings recently won a prestigious national competition and are sending sub-contractors, Dracon National, to Spain in May to represent South Africa at the BPB Gypsum International Awards.
"We’re absolutely thrilled,” says Centre Manager, André‚ Williams of the Grapnel Property Group, “most of our customers comment on what a beautiful, light, airy feeling the Mall has, without realising that the ceilings are very much a part of it."
Designed by architects MDS and sub-contracted to Dracon National by WBHO, the ceilings at Paarl Mall have a unique, inverted fan shape and took 86 of the Cape’s finest craftsmen to complete.
